Wall Mounted Fold-away Work Bench
Description
The fold away work bench is ideal for areas (i.e. garages, butcheries, nurseries, workshops, etc) where space is limited. The versatile workbench is designed to be mounted on a wall. When folded away in a vertical position, the workbench provides much needed space, especially for narrow garages and still allowing enough room for the car.
Additional features
The wooden top, shelf and cabinets are additional features which can be purchased separately.
Wooden work top (See figure 1)
The wooden top can be utilized for wood work purposes. This additional feature provides a multi-purpose work surface, particularly to this work bench. During normal usage, especially when metal work is conducted or when oily components of a work project is placed on the work bench, grimy substances may be deposited onto the work surface of the work bench. When wood work is conducted, dirt and grimy substances tend to rub-off on the wooden components of the wood work project. In order to prevent the deposit of dirt and grimy substances onto the wood work project, the wooden top can be placed onto the work bench top to ensure an unblemished wood work project. Wood work tools may be damaged when the sharp edges of the tools make contact with the metal surface of the bench top. The usage of the wooden top is therefore recommended, to prevent unnecessary damage to wood work tools.
The wooden top can be fitted on the bottom of the workbench when not in use (stored position- fig.1a). The wooden top is secured with catches on the sides of the workbench (fig.1b), in order to prevent the top from moving while in use or stored away.
Shelf
A shelf can be mounted to the workbench (fig.2), underneath the work top (between the workbench’s legs) that provides an extra work surface / temporary storage place. Due to this additional feature, tools or parts of the work project that are not currently in use, can be placed on this shelf, which allows more space on the work surface of the workbench. The workbench can be folded in a downward (fig.3) or upward (fig.4) position with the shelf connected.
Cabinets (See figure 5 & 6)
Cabinets can be mounted on both legs of the workbench. The cabinets provide additional storage space for tools and have fitted door locks. The cabinets are readily accessible and can be used in both the folded - out position (work position- fig.5) and folded-up position (fig.6).
A wooden board (plywood) is provided to be fitted inside the cabinets. Hooks (not provided) can be screwed into the wooden board to provide hanging space for tools. The operator will have the decision to position the hooks onto the wooden board according to requirements.
Basic work bench
The basic wall mounted fold away work bench is manufactured from mild steel and the workbench is powder coated.

The mild steel legs are folded away using an over center hinge mechanism (fig.8)
The wall brackets have slotted guides and pins that are welded onto the bench top for the workbench to swivel on (fig.9).
A spring latch locks the workbench in the folded up position against the wall (fig.10).
Adjustable feet allow setting of the final workbench height after installation (fig 11).

A shelf or cabinets can be fitted to both the 1.8 m and 1.2 m work benches.
